Metasequoia Tree- lined Road

Shiga’s Famous Autumn Leaves Tunnel

It has a total length of 2.5 kilometers, extending all the way to Metasequoia Road on the plateau. A total of 500 triangular cedar trees were planted on both sides of the road. Every year in late November, the autumn leaves turn from yellow to red, and from a distance, the cedar trees look like they are creating a tunnel, blending perfectly with the colors of the mountains. This road, which has been selected as a “new forest park,” is a must-see for travelers.・Metasequoia Road has been selected as one of Japan’s 100 best street trees!
